Come learn about an exciting project now being considered by the WCOC (Washington Council of Congregations) — becoming a community co-sponsor along with IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services) for a refugee family in our neighboring town New Milford. Ashley Makar, IRIS Community Co-Sponsor Liaison, will be present to make a presentation and answer questions. All interested persons are welcome to attend!
Community co-sponsors play an integral role in helping refugees get off to a strong start in their new home country, and over time become self-sufficient. Volunteers from New Milford, who have recently resettled two refugee families, tell us that their involvement was one of the most gratifying experiences of their lives.
